                                                          INTRODUCTION

Since its Inaugural Conference in Dar es Salaam in 1999, the Tanzania Chemical Society (TCS) held two other conferences, the second in 2011 in Dar es Salaam during the International Year of Chemistry and the third in Arusha in 2017 together with the 6th Federation of African Associations of Chemistry Congress. In 2019 TCS was honoured to organize and host the IUPAC Summer School on Green Chemistry which was the first to be held in Africa. This was part of the 100th Anniversary of IUPAC celebrations and the Internationl Year of the Periodic Table.

These events have provided participants with opportunities to share experiences and latest developments in chemistry. The 4th TCS Chemistry Conference which will be a two days event from Thursday 16th to Friday 17th December, therefore, is a continuation of this spirit.

The TCS Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Saturday 18th December where members of TCS will receive reports of activities of the society and make future plans. Registration for the AGM is free and is open to all TCS and prospective members. All members are invited to attend this important event of the society and participate in deciding matters of interest to the society in particualr and  chemistry in general.
